Appointment information

At Toowoomba Orthodontists we strive for prompt, reliable service for every patient who walks through our doors. To ensure we uphold these values please read the appointment policies below.

On arrival

Please notify the front desk staff of your arrival so we can ensure your appointment moves as quickly and smoothly as possible.

Cancelling appointments

If you can’t attend your scheduled appointment for any reason, please call the practice as soon as possible so that we can reschedule your appointment for you. There are a lot of moving pieces at our clinic – please strive to keep your original bookings out of convenience to yourself and our lovely staff members.

Late arrivals

If you arrive late to your appointment (but within your scheduled appointment time) please report to the front desk to see if there is still enough time for you to be seen. If we need to reschedule your appointment, we will help you to do so. If you know you are running late, please phone us at the clinic so we can adjust our schedule as needed.

Very late arrivals

If you arrive for your appointment outside your scheduled time, your appointment will be rescheduled. This is to ensure all patients are seen at their scheduled time.

Forgotten appointments

It happens to all of us at some point or another! We make it easier to remember your appointments by providing you with appointment cards – please keep these cards in a prominent place. If you have forgotten your appointment, please contact our practice as soon as possible to reschedule. It is important to remember to attend every appointment to ensure your treatment progress is not hindered.

Appointments before and after school

We will strive to organise appointment times that will suit your needs, but not all patients will be able to be seen outside of school hours. Please communicate with us about your schedule so we can try to find a time that is convenient for everyone.

Breakages

Breakages consist of wires, brackets, etc. that have become loose or broken. If you follow our care instructions and diet advice for braces treatment, you should not encounter breakages. On the off chance that you do experience breakages to your braces, and we are not scheduled to see you within the next two weeks, we will need to schedule an appointment to mend your braces. Please inform us of breakages as soon as possible so we can swiftly attend to your needs.

Long appointments

The fitting and removal of braces require more time than usual orthodontic appointments. To allot for this extra time, we schedule these appointments in the morning to try to cut down on the time you will need to take off school or work.

Debanding appointments

When braces are removed, patients are required to attend two appointments on the same day. The first appointment takes one hour in which the braces are removed.

First, bonded retainers (small wires) are glued behind your upper and lower front teeth. The braces are then removed and we clean off the remaining brace cement, polish your teeth and take an impression of your upper teeth for your clear retainer. Having your braces removed should not be uncomfortable. When we polish your teeth to remove the remaining glue, you will feel some small vibrations.

The same day in the afternoon, we will see you for 10 minutes to fit your upper clear retainer and talk about how to clean around your wires. Patients are advised to use a product called Tooth Mousse that we can provide at an extra charge.

We look forward to seeing you at your next appointment

Seeing your smiling face is the reason we love what we do. We can’t wait to achieve great results with you at Toowoomba Orthodontists.
